A Message from Our President...

I have been thinking a lot about what PTA means to me lately.  Looking back to when my boys were born, I remember feeling confused especially as my first was born.   I was not sure what to do, or even how to do it.  Family was wonderful to help me out.  I am so glad that I had family.  But then comes the social part of being a parent.  I have been blessed to be a stay at home mother, but at times, it felt a little lonely.

I found many different groups, but it was not until 3 years ago when I found the PTA, I found a group I feel at home with.  As I got more involved I learned about what the PTA was and what an amazing organization it was.  First the Parma Early Childhood PTA helped me to find other friends that had children around my children’s age.  I learned from them.  One of my best friends even helped me find the kindergarten I am sending my children to.

I also found amazing outings that I would have never found on my own.  I was able to participate in amazing educational and fun activities to bring my boys to, and have fun participating in.  What a wonderful experience for my children, but also for myself.  I was so impressed that the outings were not just for the Stay at home mothers in the group, but also for all of the mothers who worked full or part time.

The PTA is an amazing organization that focuses on the Children.  Their motto is “Every Child, One Voice."  As a member of the PTA you are not only speaking for your child, but you are also speaking for every child.  Through the advocacy program, we are able to make people aware of issues that are facing our children. We also have a legislative part of the PTA which works with our congress to help pass bills that will make a difference in the lives of our children, and the children around the state and the country.

There are so many reasons to join the PTA, but for me it was about my children, and all of the children I come in contact with.  Children are important to me, and making sure that everyone has all of the opportunities is important.  We can help to make a difference in our children’s lives and the lives of the rest of the children in the country through PTA.  We can have fun and teach our children some amazing lessons through the PEC-PTA.

If you are looking for a way to find educational activities for you and your children to do, or to meet other parents that have children with similar ages, then I hope you will come and check out the PEC-PTA.  I think you will be just as amazed as I was at my first meeting.
